Carbon for carbon, we exchange one molecule for another. Every tree felled, is a unit of syrup and bushel of fruit realised. Every tree felled, is an amount of carbon sequestered in superior trees surviving and expressing their genetics, as aided by fewer overall trees competing per acre for resources; along with an expression of pure feed stock in both innate fuel as well as nutritive stores.
Long story short, your support of Amaranth Farm, through consumption of Maple Syrup, and hopefully this year an increasing ratio of fruit to syrup, sustainably trades in the conversion of lesser trees into a robust habitat that produces a surfeit of most nutritive food, along with a landholding that provides, a modicum in livelihood, for its steward.
Would that I could cut to the chase. Meet me half way and attempt a trudge through the gospel of growing a crop that not only provides complete nutrition, but also attempts to at least approach a zero sum equation in realising consumable wholesome produce from the horticultural process. In layman's terms, I promise to exchange a consumable, for a ransom that will improve the well being of not only the purveyor, but that of the land on which I practice my wares.
If only I could ply my time equally to my consumables of the mouth, as that of the mind. Ultimately it is a proof that all things are not equal. Axiomatically, the farmer that feeds, is not necessarily the one who succeeds Socially Medially.
To that end, I Stihl, blaaagh. After I chop wood, and haul water...
