Say what?

The locals that do happen by as I put up firewood always get a good snicker. I am a bit down state in my attire, even though I can honestly claim to have grown upstate; if not a bit west. No matter, I stihl have all my digits and toes, along with um-severed arteries and as much hearing in tact as can be for an erstwhile bar band member.

Picking is late this year. In between trying to keep the newly planted hydrated in the last month, I have been working on a couple of projects. One being wood to boil syrup on. Had a windfall in that a local decided to pull down some white pine close to their house. Most of it being too gnarly for perhaps even a pulp mill, and knowing that I dabble in maple, the logs wound up here. I dribble them in under cover to work in the shade.

The sharp eye will see a bit of poplar in the foreground. First to the shed was a standing dead.  Stacked first to burn, it will give the green trees a bit more time to dry.  Between both piles pictured, I got near a cord of stacked calories. Should translate to somewhere around 15 gallons of syrup.  The piles outside should make three for the evaporator.  As for that other project going on...

Duuuunnhh Nunh. Duuuuunnnh Ninnnh. Dunh dun, dunh din, dunh dun, dunh dinh....
